10 Reasons Not to Be A Writer

Another funny share via  The Passive Voice  from  Book Trust. Would it be negative of me to say that these all sound pretty true? Or maybe only pathologically ambivalent if I do, since I'm about to release a new book in a new series. Well, that's probably another reason not to be a writer, even if it didn't make the list. Enjoy and a lovely Memorial Day weekend to all.

    1. Thanks, Karin! I'll probably be posting a little blurb and the cover in the next week. It's a fairy tale mystery with a touch of the paranormal, called Mareritt.

I'm really looking forward to your All Souls and, now that things have settled down a bit, I can finally give Sparrow House (which I really enjoyed!) a second reading to do a review. :-)

Hope you're having a wonderful holiday weekend.

  2. "Mareritt" -- great title before I even know the plot! A "fairy tale mystery" is so intriguing, I can't wait to read it -- and to catch up on other books of yours. I haven't read anyone else's work in months, sad to say, so I've got quite a TBR pile. I hope you like All Souls. I finally decided to write a book without CBA constraints, and I enjoyed writing it more than anything else I've ever written. (Glad you liked Sparrow House too.)

    1. Thanks, Karin. I'm guessing you must be of Norwegian heritage. :-) Mareritt's literal meaning definitely made it the best descriptive word to use as a title for the book, considering the story incorporates the idea of sleep paralysis, not just the more modern understanding of "nightmare" as simply a bad dream.

I know, keeping up with reading while writing is unbelievably difficult, isn't it? I'm way behind on my GR challenge now!

I'm sure I will enjoy All Souls, as I love your writing style. I've never tried to follow specific guidelines in writing, but I know it is challenging just trying to write stories that have a particular worldview, but that still might be appealing to contemporary readers. I'm wishing you much success with your newest work!

  3. Yup, my mom's half Norwegian. :-) I'm glad you let your GR challenge slip. I'd much rather read new books from you. I'll be checking back here to see the cover of Mareritt and find out when it's out!

    1. Very cool. My great-grandmother on my dad's side is Norwegian.

Thanks again, Karin. I should have a cover and blurb up by this weekend and I'm hoping for a mid-June release.

When in June is All Souls due for release? I can't wait to read it. :-)
